Beyond the Pale is committed to the encouragement and production of excellent new writing for the theatre. In particular our focus is on the dramatic presentation of current social and political issues seen from new perspectives.
Our first production was The Sword of Alex by Rib Davis. A powerful play exploring conflicting nationalisms and toxic masculinity, it was very well received, with Kate Terence being nominated for an Off West End (Offie) Theatre Award for her role as Calantha.
Our forthcoming production, Safe, another play by Rib Davis, explores memory and what the Holocaust means today. The script arose from the playwright’s 2 years as Goodison Fellow at National Life Stories, delving into the Holocaust testimonies held at the British Library.
Beyond the Pale is now entering into a fruitful partnership with the Tsitsit Fringe Festival, and is open to suggestions for future productions of exciting new work.
